Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Introduction to Querying

This 2 day course is intended for students who are new to querying data in Microsoft SQL Server 2014 databases, and need a concise introduction to the subject. It would also prove beneficial to delegates wanting to refresh their existing querying skills. You will find that this is a comprehensive course for this level, with plenty of illustrated examples and augmented with practical hands-on exercises.

Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Programming

This 5 day course is intended for students new to querying and programming with Microsoft SQL Server products and who need a total immersion in the subject on the SQL Server 2014 platform. This is a comprehensive and intensive course with plenty of illustrated examples and augmented with practical hands-on exercises. All of the recently added and enhanced Transact-SQL features introduced in SQL Server (such as Window Functions) are included here to enable delegates to fully leverage the power of this latest release of Microsoft’s flagship database product. To cater for the more experienced SQL Server developer, this course can also be tailored to include only the material required.

Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Integration Services

This 4 day course is intended for IT professionals, business analysts, and developers who need to implement data transfer, or ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load), solutions by using Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Integration Services. Students will learn about the SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) development environment to create SSIS projects and packages, work with Control Flow Tasks, and design Data Flows using a variety of transformations and data sources/destinations (including SQL Server databases, flat files, and Excel). Delegates will also learn about SSIS project and package management, deployment, debugging, error handling, and logging techniques. The training is delivered with plenty of illustrated examples and augmented with practical hands-on exercises.

Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Reporting Services

This 4 day course is intended for students who need to learn and understand the full reporting lifecycle of designing, managing, and accessing reports in a Microsoft SQL Server 2014 environment. Days 1 and 2 will familiarise attendees with the Reporting Services development tools used to create and author reports, and will enable students to design initially basic, then more complex, reports. All of the data regions utilised in report design are covered here including tables, matrices, lists, and charts. Interactive features such as drilldown and drill-through reports are also covered in this section, as are the implementation and use of report parameters. Day 3 builds upon the knowledge gained over the previous two days by covering advanced report design concepts such as using Analysis Services as a data source, making your reports more dynamic (such as allowing users to interactively select groups for a matrix through parameters), alternating background colours for table rows, and other handy tips to enable developers to design truly professional reports. Day 4 of the course deals more specifically with the role of the Report Server itself. Here, students will learn how to deploy reports to a Report Server, manage Report Server content, handle subscriptions, and control access to reports.

Microsoft SQL Server System 2014 Admin Fundamentals

This 3 day course is intended for students who need to learn the essential skills necessary to maintain a Microsoft SQL Server 2014 system infrastructure. Being concise and hands-on, it is aimed at quickly getting students familiar with the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 administration concepts, tools and utilities. This course is an abridged version of the full 5 day “Microsoft SQL Server 2014 System Administration” course. The installation of SQL Server 2014, covered in the first module of the course, is optional and can be omitted to free up time for other topics if desired.

Microsoft SQL Server 2014 System Adminstration

This 5 day course is intended for students who need to learn the skills necessary to maintain a Microsoft SQL Server 2014 system infrastructure. Being comprehensive and hands-on, it is aimed at quickly getting students familiar with the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 administration concepts, tools and utilities. Attendees will gain insight into the infrastructure and architecture of SQL Server, enabling individuals to fully understand the product with which they are dealing. Configuration of server instances and databases is given extensive treatment, as is the pivotal role of database transaction logs. Index creation and maintenance is also given in-depth analysis to facilitate better understanding of related performance issues arising from their use, and how to rectify problems that can often occur. Thorough coverage is given to managing SQL Server security, including both at the server and database level. The focus then shifts to examining how best to move and protect data, such as when importing or exporting it between heterogeneous data sources, backing it up to external media, and restoring data from a backup. Many tasks involved in the day to day administration of a SQL Server instance can be performed automatically, making an administrators life potentially simpler, and such is the subject matter in the module dealing with SQL Server Automation. Coverage of SQL Server high availability options is also provided, enabling students to better identify what choices are available and best suited to given scenarios. Finally, comprehensive treatment is given to the monitoring and troubleshooting of SQL Server performance and related issues.
