Microsoft Excel

About Excel

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet application which is included in every Microsoft Office suite. Some of its features include; calculation, graphing tools, creating tables, and a macro programming language called Visual Basic for Applications. It is widely used in all areas of IT work and is considered the industry standard for spreadsheets. Excel is very user-friendly with an easy to navigate user interface, and is utilised widely due to its time-saving and presentational attributes. As with all spreadsheet applications it allows users to keep track of data, create charts and graphs from data and perform automatic and complex calculations. Excel spreadsheets are often used for creating and editing inventories, creating coded surveys, storing and analysing research or other data. All information is stored in columns and rows.
